A brief outline of national and international travels over the last 15 years
Venezuela (2006): Evaluation and experimentation of a community tourism pilot project in the
area of the
tropical Andes.
Cyprus (2005): Evaluation of the rural and sustainable tourism applications in Cyprus : development of traditional houses and embellishment of villages, rural development of cultural and nature activities.
Nunavut (2005-2006): Development of a cultural tourism concept with an Inuit village based on consultations with the community.. Evaluation of the community tourist product potential and design of a pilot project for developing a cultural tourism concept and local applications. Development of a training manual for a local trainer on basic tourism and hospitality standards.
Northwest Territories (2005-2006): On-the-ground evaluation of positioning avenues for improved awareness of the destination within Francophone markets; visits to businesses and meetings with government organizations to evaluate the potential of the destination for the target markets. Marketing plan for the francophone European markets.
New York (2005): Participation in the Adventures in Travel Expo in order to study nature and adventure tourism clienteles.
Mexico (2004): Participation in a development mission for a community tourism project with the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Cholula region.
Czech Republic (2004): Report on and study of the various tourism phenomena offered by this destination.
Jamaica (2004): Report and meetings with participants on the development of community based tourism.
Morocco (2002, 2003, 2004): Report in 2002 on the Assises du Tourisme (tourism conference), following an invitation from the Moroccan National Tourist Office. In 2003, evaluation of the adventure product and of community tourism in southern Morocco. Speaker at the first Moroccan Forum on the social and sustainable economy in 2004, on the themes of sustainable tourism and agrotourism.
Yukon, Canadian Territory (2003): Site inspection to evaluate the destination, its products and services, in order to prepare a five-year marketing plan.
Guatemala (2001 - 2002) : Evaluation and ongoing pilot project for developing community ecotourism projects with a national NGO. Marketing development plan outlines for an ecotourism outfitter. Feasibility report for an ecolodge, for a private entrepreneur. Spanish immersion stays. Invited lecturer during the first National Colloquium on Sustainable Tourism of Guatemala.
Dominican Republic (1999): Working sessions with local NGOs to discuss sustainable development for community tourism projects and evaluate quality criteria for certification purposes. Visited the Limon area (Samana). Working sessions with soft adventure outfitters.

Egypt (1998): Evaluated security measures following the massacre of 58 Swiss tourists at Luxor. Study for new strategic development plans for the area. Evaluated Hurghada on the Red Sea coast as a destination.
Israel and Jordan (1997): Evaluated a joint promotion program for these two countries on either side of the Dead Sea, and examined the potential for a complementary historical route between the two cultures. Interview with the Jordanian Minister of Tourism.

Barbados (1997): Evaluated soft adventure activities.
South Africa (1994): Evaluated tourism products at INDABA (tourism trade show); met with buyers and sellers from all over southern Africa. Visited national parks and private game reserves. Discussed the possibilities for tourism in black communities (township tourism) with government officials.
Malaysia (1993): Evaluated two new beach destinations; toured the southern part of the country to evaluate cultural and soft adventure tourism products.
Australia (1990 and 1991): Evaluated Aboriginal, soft-adventure and ecotourism products; participated in the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) trade show; met with operators and outfitters. Toured the four main tourist regions: New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territories.
